Book Review: The Lightning Thief

Rick Riordan's book The Lightning Thief is a great read! This book is almost what I would call “simply perfecto!” Here’s a summary of the book: Percy Jackson thinks he is very unusual…he gets expelled absolutely every year out of every boarding school he goes to, a lot of weird things happen to him, and he doesn't know his dad. But he is much more unusual than that – he is a demi-god, or a half blood – that means he is part human and part ancient Greek god. His father is an ancient Greek god, but Percy never even saw him since his father was lost at sea…or so he thinks. He finds out about all this ancient Greek god stuff one day on a class field trip when his pre-algebra teacher Ms. Dodds transforms into a monster and tries to kill him! Luckily, his Latin teacher Mr. Brunner comes in and throws him a pen which turns into a big, bronze sword, and then Percy successfully destroys the monster, causing it to vaporize! When school ends, he is sent to a summer camp – but not just any summer camp – a camp for half bloods only (that’s why it’s called half blood hill!) that is directed by a centaur named Chiron, who was actually disguised as a teacher - Percy's former Latin teacher,in fact! On the way, his mother gets vaporized by a minotaur (yet another ancient Greek monster) and their car is demolished, but Percy makes it safely. At the camp he learns all about the gods and monsters but he mostly plays sports and has fun with other half bloods, until it is discovered that he is the son of Poseidon, one of the three major gods. Then he is sent on a quest with two other friends to go to find Zeus’s lightning bolt. The world depends on them to return it! To find out more, you’ll have to read the book!

Game Review: Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0

Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0 is the best racing game ever designed. You play as a street racer, and you're trying to make it to the top of "The Black List", becoming the best street racer there is. To do that you have to participate in lots of different races against tons of other racers, and after you win a few races you continue on to the next level every now and then,unlocking cool new cars and upgrades for your old cars. But the different thing about this game is that it has cops, which will try to stop you by making barriers and sideswiping you. If they catch you, you get busted and you have to restart the whole race. There is also a mode called "tuner takedown" where you get to be the cop, or you can try to outrun the cops in another mode. *There is another very similar game called Need for Speed Most Wanted (no 5-1-0) that is just a bit different and it comes on all consoles,including PC, but the 5-1-0 version is only on Sony PSP which is otherwise known as playstation portable.

Game Review:Star Wars Battlefront II

Star Wars Battlefront II is probably one of the best video games ever.In the game you can choose a mode you want to play in, for example, galactic conquest. In galactic conquest mode your goal is to conquer every planet in the galaxy, to do that you have to play a lot of different battles on a lot of different maps, and you have to win most of them. It's pretty hard! In a battle you can choose what type of warrior you want to be. The choices include normal soldiers and stormtroopers and stuff like that(you can unlock heroes such as Luke Skywaker if you get a lot of points).To conquer the planet you're on you have to capture all the command posts before your enemies do. Command Posts are like bases,where reinforcments are deployed and where vechicles are kept. To capture a command post, you have to stay next to it without getting killed for a little while until it turns blue,which means the command post is yours.The enemies command posts are red. To get maximum points you have to capture as many command posts as possible and kill as many enemie warriors as you can.Rated T.
